Pour ce prix je pensais recevoir les mousses devant les tweeter et les boomers.

Je crois me rappeler qu'il faillait compter plus de 200€ pour les quatres mousses (2 x tweeters + 2 x boomers) ...

Normalement les pointes du caisson boomer doivent percer les plaquettes alu mais sans les transpercer. Ceci permet d'assurer une stabilité latérale.
Est-ce possible avec tes plaquettes ?

Pour éviter le collement du sillicone il suffit comme expliqué dans le document que tu as cité, d'utiliser un peu de liquide vaisselle.

En tout cas, très bien le fait de ne pas devoir agrafer les plaquettes !

Mes SBLs reposent sur des dalles en béton de 5 cm ... faudra que j'essaye les pièces de monnaie.

A quelle distance (mur/écartement) les as tu placé ??? j'ai encore fait quelques essais hier et je suis retourné à 7 cm du mur ...

En mettant du liquide à vaisselle, le joint n'adhérera pas au bois et l'étanchéité ne sera pas garantie! Je me souviens qu'Eddy conseillait (je crois) 170 cm entre les enceintes. Bien sûr que toutes les piéces ne conviendront pas à ce critère mais il faut (si l'on peut) essayer...

avec en particulier quelques retour d'expérience d'un autre pro (Dave, voir le post nr. 5) pour l'installation des SBL ce qui est toujours intéressant !

I've had SBLs for three years now and have found they are the most finicky speakers regarding setup of any encountered yet when done right are one of the best speakers I've heard regardless of price, size or bass reproduction. Unfortunately, I've only heard Quads once (63s) and almost twenty years before first hearing SBLs. Still, I'm more than happy to give you a heads up for what to expect if you consider SBLs even though I'm unable to comment on how they compare with your Quads.

Installation is the difficult part. One floor spike out by only a few millimeters will seriously degrade bass output in frequency extension and quality. It's mandatory you stop *ANY* cabinet wobble (even wobble so minute, the thickness of an unfolded piece of cellophane that wraps a new pack of cigarettes would be enough to stop it.) Another symptom of floor spike wobble is the image collapsing onto the baffle of the opposite channel.

Locating the middle bass driver cabinet on the aluminum pads in such a way that they penetrate the pads slightly without going all the way through is vital. You must ensure the cabinet doesn't rock on the pads or cabinet. Like the floor spikes, any wobble here degrades bass performance with boom and a lack of clarity. In extreme cases, driver "honk" and an out-of-phase quality to the sound are also symptoms of the middle cabinet rocking (imagine gianormous out-of-phase Kans.)

If your floor is uncarpeted, eliminating all of the wobbles above is rather easy. The fun begins when you have thick carpet (like me) combined with the stacked, low-mass SBL cabinets which must be perfectly connected to each other and the entire assembly mechanically grounded to earth so they'll work as the designer intended.

The seal between middle and lower cabinet must be made correctly as well though it's relatively easy to get this part right if you follow the instructions in the manual. (Don't let this scare you-the other stuff above is sufficient;-)

One last point...the tweeter cabinet mounting rods *must* be fully tight on the floor frame so that tapping or moving the tweeter cabinet finds it returning after oscillation to the exact same point of rest prior to movement; otherwise, lower cabinet vibration will eliminate some of the dome's output (and distort what's left.) The Scanspeak dome is fully capable of revealing a trombone's dynamic "blat" with full intensity and no distortion if you get this adjustment right...and you have enough power on tap.

Now that I've probably convinced you to stay as far away from the SBL as possible let me add - all of this is doable. If their sound is what you're looking for, the pain and suffering is worth it IMO. I have two pair of briks in the garage that aren't going back into my primary system despite superior scale and bass extension.
